Dropped him off for the first day of school this morning. It’s the first time he’s been in full days, joining his sister with the “big kids” of elementary. It’s been an emotional thing for my overly attached parenting self. It’s like we’ve reached a whole new season of our life together and I’m not ready for it yet. Where did my babies go so quickly?? I became a complete and utter nervous wreck the day she was born. I was exhausted and yet couldn’t shut off my own brain to sleep. Was she still breathing, was she eating enough, why was she still crying?? Colic became our everyday for the first three months, and yet with every last sleepless night I grew more in love with her. I was so young, knew nothing about motherhood. And yet I did know this feeling that consumed my soul. I would do anything in the world to make sure her life was filled with good... My colic baby is now the most easy going, happy girl. And all my feelings for her the same. Motherhood isn’t always a walk in the park. Last week we were in Seattle and missed the massive earthquakes that hit SoCal. This week we are back beach side and missed yesterday’s turn at Seattle! When we first moved here we were terrified of the possibility and had our game plan all thought out, down to which of us would grab which kid if we needed to make a run for it.
